About a month ago, I worked as a second shooter for a beautiful wedding in Dahlonega, Georgia, with the lovely Kathryn McCrary. (More details and THE images to come!) While I was photographing the groomsmen, one of them asked me, “Are you Tommy Ferguson’s wife?”  

It finally dawned on me why this particular groomsmen looked so familiar–he and his fiancé are friends of Thomas.  We were even at their engagement party this winter!  I first met Andy and Melissa, separately, at another wedding nearly two years ago. Although their paths had crossed many times in previous years through mutual friends from high school, college and Young Life, that night was the first time Andy asked Melissa to dance.  He followed up by asking her on their first date a week later.

It was wonderful to catch up with Andy and Melissa while shooting the wedding in Dahlonega, and I felt especially honored when Melissa inquired about an engagement session with me.  It was truly a privilege and a joy to spend an afternoon with this fantastic couple.

For their session, we strolled through Piedmont Park on the most perfect kind of spring day in Atlanta–a fun way to revisit the vast playground of their first date. We’re looking forward to celebrating with them on August 1 and having them in nearby Snellville as Andy serves as the area director of Southern Gwinnett Young Life.

Fun fact:  The center stone of Melissa’s ring is an heirloom in Andy’s family and will be 100 years old in 2020!
