From Junior Rebels Basketball and Dixie Softball through the woes of middle and high school and now into our unbelievable adult lives, I have known Chelsey for the last 15 years. When I met Dallas at a hometown throwdown over the holidays last year, I knew he was PERFECT for Chels. This spring, Chelsey took a chance on me to create her “dream” maternity portraits and then entrusted me with documenting the birth of her first child, Ryker, in May. I have loved developing these new bonds with sweet friends and witnessing the incredible love and tenderness between Dallas and Chelsey as they carve out a new type of adventure as parents. Y’all rock and I am SO honored to be a part of your day next October!
Throughout this year, we’ll have lots of fun and festivities celebrating Chelsey and Dallas, but to tide us over I’m sharing a few of my favorite images from their beautiful engagement session off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Chelsey dreamt of images in a meadow or a field with hay or “wispy” flowers, as she described to me. After a little research and asking around (thanks for sharing, Jess!), we landed on the Sam Knob Trail. It couldn’t have been more perfect–the meadow, the mountains, the weather, the golden light, those wispy wildflowers and Queen Anne’s Lace. Also, Dallas rescued a baby snake just before we stepped off the trail.
Sidenote: I thought I had grown out of car sickness. Fat chance. After winding up those curvy roads of the Blue Ridge Parkway, I tumbled out of the car, made for the bushes and well…you know, became a lot less nauseous. Then off to shoot I went! I mention that as a consolation that you don’t have to worry about ya girl, Ashton. I fare just fine when I have to work under less-than-stellar conditions. AmIRight, Courtney Potter?!
